Life in the fat lane

Patient Name: N
Diagnosis: Overweight
Prescription: Need to lose weight ASAP

Now N has already confronted her problem...

...and 'gasp' found the solution too...

But nothing is as easy as it sounds...if that were the case N would have shed all the excess weight 10 years back. N is not motivated enough to address the problem seriously.

Medical experts say that the first step towards losing weight is accepting the fact that one is overweight.

Then we must try to understand what causes obesity...

Also understand and accept that all what we have been doing till now has been just for the sake of it....

or are just quick-fix methods.....

The experts also say losing weight need not be stressful.
They shared a few of their weight-loss tips...

If that doesn't work...

Or use their specially-manufactured cutlery to eat meals...

But if our heart is not in it, there are always ways to get around these things....

And N will win 1st prize for excuses.....

N needs your valuable advice.

As well-wishers what clever tips do you have to offer her????

  1. LOL!!! Totally identify with all these. Tried everything and nothing works... Fortunately, my clothes never go too tight, but my scale doesn't concur with that... :-)

  4. Haha ! I have few clever tips ! Eat light dinner at 7 pm and do not eat after that until breakfast next day! Stop snacking altogether. Drink green tea on empty stomach. Climb stairs whenever possible. If you want to gorge on a day, do it. But observe very strict diet with smaller portions for next three days. ;-)

    1. Very useful tips which I follow most of the time except for one - stop snacking altogether;-(. That is my biggest weakness...I don't even know when it happens but it happens;-(((.

    2. This is the most important one , N ! If you get the motivation and will power to stop snacks, you will notice that your scale actually started working and it is not stuck anyways ! I have experienced this , I was an avid snack lover too.. It is impossible for moms to stop snacks, since kids at home need them we always stock them...and think it is okay to take few bites when they are having it.. but thats the mistake we are making... I know I am sounding preachy here, but I must tell you thats how I lost all the baby fat post delivery.

    3. U r not being preachy because u have tried it and knows it works and so are trying to convince me. And believe me I am convinced too......I have good intentions but will-power I have none...atleast not regarding junk food;-P.
And can u believe my luck, just when the weather is soo good and I decided to start my morning walks again, I have sprained my leg. I'm sure a very famous mal proverb must come to ur mind now;-P.

    4. Oh no ! And yes the proverb did strike me hahah :D I feel so glad I convinced you. My husband was my inspiration to do this, as I was a bakery and potato chips addict. I havent eaten packaged chips in atleast five years. Now that is a feat isnt it?

  7. What I do is, I go to daily walks presumably to reduce weight. Then, I am tempted by samosa, bread chenna, frozen sandwich and what not. Obviously all the calories lost during the 45 min walking is gained due to all these tasty foods.

These days, I have reduced my eating... oops... walking out sessions to twice per week. On the other days, I walk on the terrace of my own house. In circles.

Non-availability of tasty temptations is the sure shot way to achieve weight loss, as admitted by some of the pics you have shared :)

  10. Its simple., have a friend who can make you look slim comparatively :)

or just try breathing exercise which can activate metabolic actions. try breathing for half an hour a day till sweat, & feel light. lemon & ginger has the ability to reduce weight, add more in food.

  11. Now there you go N, I got to lose 10 kilos too and it was while I am raking my brains, you come up with this post. As I see from the comment section, there are a lot of takers for a magic potion, me included.

I have a tip, for shedding some kilos and atleast makes the weighing scale read the same weight for months together. I was abstaining from anything that was sweet for two years ( mainly as a prayer) and i noticed that i lost atleast 4 kilos initially and my weight remained there whatever i gorged on and i wasnt exercisng one bit. The most difficult part for me was to drink sugarless coffee and tea, as I dunk myself in them most of the days. Once my prayer was over, i started back on my regular routine and the weighing scale has started moving in the wrong direction. Now praying that i get my self control back. They say, when you are older, you get wiser right, but mine is just not that case. :-(

    1. @Vincy ..U didnt eat/drink anything sweet for 2 years;-o...unimaginable for me. I can forgo my regular meals but can never say no to dessert;-(. If u've got that kind of will-power Vincy nothing is impossible for u, no really I'm serious girl.
"They say, when you are older, you get wiser right,..."
Not anymore now they say when u get older, u get more irritable;-D..

  13. Nance it is heartening to go through life knowing you won't be kidnapped:-) One thing that worked for many moms I know including me is forgoing sugar. If you drink coffee/tea you can try giving sugar completely for just cone cup or removing 1 spoon of sugar every time. the spoonful of sugar is more deadly than we think. another thing is eat all you want but don't eat anything after 7PM so the poor old body has time to digest before putting the organs to sleep. you see i hate exercise:-) but if you can find a tall person and try to keep in stride with him/her while talking and walking you are getting a pretty good exercise. i found this out inadvertently. ok my pearls of wisdom are over. funny pics nance:-)

    1. I dont drink tea or coffee except maybe when I have a headache. Now dinner before 7pm is what Anita also suggests & it makes sense but what about 'having atleast 1 meal together'. The H is not very happy when he has to eat alone...silly reasons I knw but have to consider so many things;-(.
As for trying to keep up with others...its the other way around at my end...I walk fast and then have to slow down to keep up...err..down with the others...oh just dont ask, I think the whole world is conspiring against me;-P

post was super duper aaaaaaaaaaawesome :D yea there are some bits that help like green tea, eating dinner early, a husband who makes snide comments like u r festively plump , a kid who pulls ur cheeks.. (but then one gets used to them and takes up a brave front :P )

anyhoo dont u worry.... put ur mind to it and you may get going:)
