Up and Running

After being away for more than a month I’ve forgotten how to blog. Seriously I have. I wasted a whole morning trying to put together one paragraph.

Going to take refuge under bullet points till I get my rhythm back..
  •  My Christmas and New Year's Day was GOOD. We had 2 families visiting us at the same time. My friends were like wtf until they found out it was my sister and sister-in-law’s family;-D. It was organised chaos and lots of fun for 2 weeks straight. Itinerary for each day and menu was planned before-hand to make it easier. We never managed to get out of the house before 11am how much ever we tried. And never came back home before 11pm. And never slept before 1.30am. Having a sister-in-law who took charge of the meals HELPED. Eating 1 or 2 meals outside everyday ALSO helped. And having a sister who didn’t mind washing a mountain of dishes helped. A LOT.
  • Naina celebrated her 10th birthday a few days back. She managed to keep her birthday celebrations going on for a record 3 days[don’t ask].  She had too many expectations which we realise does not bode well for the future. She also refused to help around the house claiming it was her birthday tomorrow/today/yesterday. And here’s some gyaan about the occasion ‘Everybody's so nice to you on your birthday but the very next day you are treated like dirt’ says the birthday girl bitterly;-P.
  • We are hoping to relocate back to Bangalore this year. The problem is that nobody believes us. While it is true that we've been trying to go back for the past 5 years and not succeeding very well, this year we are very serious. We are looking at schools & admission details very minutely. If any of you have any recommendations to make, please feel free. And if any of you and your have influence/own/work/deal with schools please do tell us. We need every help we can get.
  • I’m hoping to post more often on the picture blog this year. I have a DSLR but don’t use it all that much. I know:-(. My phone camera is my latest fancy.  Click, click, click & post a 100 pictures on my picture blog is my this year's resolution. Do take a look when you have the time.
  • The Dubai Shopping Festival is going on. Crazy sales all around town. You’ll think shops are giving things away for free the way the people are trampling over each other to get at the stuff;-/. Better-half got me a pair of adidas running shoes amongst other gear. They are a dream to wear…so light and fit around my feet instead of the other way around. Never again will I look at branded stuff with prejudice. Simply awesome. With this I've run out of excuses to not exercise;-(

What's news at your end??? Once again wishing all of you a wonderful year ahead:-)).

  4. nance, great to hear your new year started with family and fun. i can feel the happiness from your post. happy birthday to naina! yup it is such a let down after the high of the d-day:-) r u really going to move? the weather there is great and i know people from north india buying homes there instead of bombay. if you are serious you need to look around before prices fluff up even more? i don't have much of an idea but bangalore seems to be in demand among NRI's as well as RI's:-) what is a camera? haven't seen one since my iphone came along. pixel size and picture quality are pretty good. so how about a picture a day on your picture blog? you have an eye for pictures and taking one a day with a view to posting will help you grow i think. i like the idea myself! no excuse for exercise anymore nance. how about clicking a pictures from your walk each day and posting the choicest? i really loved that picture on top. since there is no link is this one you took yourself? either way very cute and friendly...

    1. We've been planning this move for atleast 3 yrs now. Everytime the H will change his mind at the last moment giving us the vaguest excuses. The truth is he is not sure he can handle the separation. With kids going to high school soon we had to make the decision as India has a better education system and options as compared to UAE.

I seriously contemplated a picture a day but gave the idea up, from 8-10 pics a yr to 365 my blog will not be able to recover fr the shock;-P. And thank u for asking....I did take th picture with my phone;-D...the dslr cannot be taken everywhere but the phone can be whipped out at any point and 'click';-D.

    1. Oh Renu even I was stressed out before they came. I made a few snacks, cakes but none of them turned as good as it usually does. I just gave up after that;-(.
Please dont give Naina any encouragement...she's already celebrating her birthday longer than other people do;-/.
      I'm happy too:-)).

  8. Relocating? Wow thats big news ! But I am sure, that going by the hell of traffic and other issues in Bangalore right now, you will definitely miss Dubai :D And your kids are going to miss their friends a LOT. Hmm but they will be fine.. :-)
Two weeks of guests...thats a lot to take ! But if they helped with the dishes, then thats awesome ! And when its your own sis or SIL who is helping, you dont need to feel regretful, as they are family ! haha...Anyway Happy New Year Nancy ! Please keep posting even if you have forgotten about it...and this post was good enough for someone who claims that she has forgotten blogging !

    1. I'll definitely miss the laid-back life-style, facilties, the easy availability of things but I'm also longing to be back among family and friends. Education-wise also India gives more scope to explore options. Lots of doubts too but unlike the US we cant hang out here forever anyways so why not sooner than later:-)).
Seriously words were not flowing when i started out so i got a lil worried....but by the end of the post I was feeling better and now after ur comment Anita I'm ready to take on the world;-D

anyway - relocatin eh - to bangalore - maybe i wont believe it until u r here - i dont know if i will be of much help at all with the schools - will check with D n pm - but i must be crazy to think if you would want advice from 20 somethings on school - but yeah, they studied there - atleast they will know where not to study :D
