You’ve probably heard of vending machines dispensing chocolates,
soft drinks, tiny cars, umbrellas, live crabs[I’ve heard there is one in
Shanghai] but have you heard of gold vending machines???
If you’ve been reading my blog then ofcourse you’ve heard of
it. 2 yrs back I remember writing about a Gold vending machine which was
unveiled in the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi. Then I had wondered whether
I’d ever get to see a real ‘live ’one.
Guess what, now Dubai’s got them too. Unlike Abu Dhabi,
Dubai believes in placing them in more accessible areas…like shopping malls where
the common people can see and judge for themselves;-D.
Burj Khalifa has
supposedly got 2 of these vending machines…one at the bottom and one on the 125th
floor.
I did all I could to straighten this pic but obviously....;-/ |
I saw one at the Atlantis but look at my luck.......on that
particular day we had spent a lot of money at the Atlantis, to spend on
Gold also would have been too much. So I contented myself by taking a few
pictures;-P.
There is also a built-in computer which updates the Gold rates inside the machine every 10 minutes. And anything you buy from the machine comes with a
money-back guarantee, no questions asked, cool huh;-o
great!!hearing it the first time. Thank you Nancy..
ReplyDeleteThe pleasure is all mine Sikha;-D
Delete"Gimme me a few days to think about it." :P
ReplyDeleteThere I said what you asked for :D
But, isn't it boring to see gold as bar/coins? How about a machine that can dispense jewellery in customized designs that we ask for? Will be thrilling, isn't it? :P
How is your health now, N??
PS: First!!!
Actually I feel this machine will not be a great success simply bcoz there's not much choice. But for novelty's sake or as souvenir some of us will buy 1 or 2 pcs but not more.
DeleteI'm much better now, just a bit of cough remaining thank goodness...last week this time I was miserable.
PS: @first....How did u arrive at that calculation;-D???
Wah! Interesting :D
ReplyDeleteIsn't it??? Keep a lookout for it when u visit Dooobai;-D.
DeleteThe first picture gave me a neck pain that you had elaborated earlier in one of your posts - due to a different reason though.
ReplyDeleteBut it is worth it, now I can identify a gold vending machine when I see one.
Thanks for those pictures :-) :-) and ofcourse the post.
Ahh.. before I forget, I was itching to comment on your posts in the beginning and you had blocked us. I got a little busy and now I see so many posts and comments open. Loved every one of your posts. Keep them coming....
Oh Vincy I'm so sorry, didn't set out to deliberately block...just that the kids exams were going on & I knew if I kept checking for replies I'll never be able to concentrate on the kids;-(.
DeleteI totally regret it now;-((((.
Come over whenever u are free...real life has to come first anyways;-D
The power of technology! But I dont think it will be of much use or will it be?
ReplyDeleteDepends....Indians[barring a few] I think will still prefer the 'going to the gold shop and buying' mode. But the Europeans I think will buy something from the machine for the souvenir value. Atleast that's what I think;-).
DeleteIthu onnu poyi kaananaam...
ReplyDeleteTry Dubai mall[at the Burj Khalifa entrance]....it's the closest;-D
DeleteWow! Now.. I just need to come up with some moolah to buy some Gold! What will they come up with next?
ReplyDeleteEven credit card will work;-D
DeletePlizz to publish photo of Madam N, happily making a withdrawal from the ATM next time ..... I have heard a reliable rumour that the powers that be have decided to open a similar ATM near the N household to cater to unmet demand :)
ReplyDeleteHahhaaaa....N has big plans to make a transaction but 'when' is the big question;-).
DeleteI do hope they are just that...just rumours I mean. I'd hate for anyone to make a loss because of me;-P
What next??!!
ReplyDeleteSeriously wht next;-o
Deletemoney back guarantee is indeed cool. so it must be real gold....
ReplyDeleteHehe it IS real gold, no doubts abt that at all;-D
